Santa Christmas Gifts

I have something small to share with you today. I had to hold this back until after we celebrated Christmas just incase my parents or my partner seen the post.

I made this little Santa ticket holder for my parents. I had hockey tickets for them inside. Isn't he super cute!

I also cased this gift card holder from LeeAnn Greff from a pin on Pinterest. This was super simple to create. Just follow the instructions on your envelope punch board for a gift card holder.

Sorry today's post is so long but I have a lot of food to make before our friends come over for the evening. If there is anything you want to know about these leave me a comment and I will be sure to reply.

Square Floral Card Set - CCMC283

Create with Connie and Mary had a very cute sketch this week.

At first I wanted to create a group of 3X3 Note Cards using the Floral Fusion Die but the flowers were too big for a 3"X3" card so I changed my cards to be 4-1/4"X4-1/4".

I love how they turned out!

I never thought I would use this pattern but that's what happens when you just let your creativity flow.

Mr. & Mrs. Gold Card - PPA185

This card I made for Paper Pals Art Sketch Challenge is packed full of embossing!!! I embossed the background, the gold strip of paper, the sentiment and the frame around the sentiment. I am sure it would have been a lot easier if I just had Stampin' Up's gold foil paper, but what fun would that be? ;)

This is not my usual style of card, and I rarely use gold but I am very happy with out it turned out. I just wish I could get a photo that does the card justice. Trust me this card stands out a lot more than my photo shows.

Thank you for popping by my blog today!

Holiday Update and New Years Card

The first part of my blog today is more personal than normal. If you just want to see my latest creation scroll to the end of my blog.

Christmas this year wasn't anything I thought it would be.
We had my parents over for Christmas Eve but my mom wasn't feeling well and the energy in the house seemed very low. Then on Christmas Morning when I finally called my parents at 11:30am I woke my parents up. They never stay in bed past 8:00am but they were still sleeping. I told my mom to call me when she got up and was ready to have me come over. I never heard from her throughout the whole day and they didn't answer my phone call. My mom texted me later in the evening to say she was feeling "Bad very bad. I will talk to you in the morning." This meant I found myself alone all Christmas and eating Chinese take out with my partner when he got home from work.

Yesterday I got a text from my mom telling me not to come over because she didn't want anyone else to get what they have. I really wish I could talk to my parents but the minute I had on the phone with my mom on Christmas day she didn't sound good at all. I think I will go over to see them tomorrow even if they don't want me to. If they are both very sick who is there to take care of them? I feel helpless!!!

With all this happening I still feel like I should be making Christmas cards because we haven't had our Christmas yet. However, I know I need to move on. Since I didn't have time to send out any Christmas Cards I made a batch of New Years Cards for those who sent me a Christmas Card. Below is the card I came up with. I am not entirely thrilled with the results but the more I look at it the more it grows on me.

I hope you all had a great day shopping on Boxing Day! I took the day to relax and get a stack of these cards created.

To create the starburst technique follow the steps below in the photos.

Draw lines on the back of your paper, or on a scrap paper the same size as your DSP.
If you want to create a starburst like I did here use scrap paper and cut two pieces of DSP at the same time as you cut along the lines of your scrap.

As I mentioned above, cut along all lines you drew.

Once you cut your pieces align them on your paper and adhere.

If you used alternating DSP as I did in my other card it is easy to alternate the DSP to create two cards.

MDS You Are...

I found this cute saying in a catalogue for a home decor company (sorry I forget the name). I really wanted to buy the product but then realized I could make something similar in My Digital Studio. I have this hanging in my office at work, next to my Chocolate Makes My Clothes Shrink sign, and they both make me smile every time I read them.

Have a fantastic day!

MDS Chocolate...

After Christmas Eve and all the junk food we ate last night I thought this next project I made in My Digital Studio (MDS) would be perfect to share. However I don't think it is just chocolate. I think we could substitute the word "Chocolate" for "Christmas".

Merry Christmas!

I am on a roll with my cards!!! The sketch I used this time around came from RetroSketches. I love the starburst look so this sketch was perfect!

I forgot to take photos of how I did the starburst for my card so I will make another card and take photos along the way. Then I will be able to give you a picture tutorial so you can do the same thing on your cards.

Sorry the photo I current have is a little dark. No matter what I did I couldn't get the Island Indigo look like Island Indigo. If i can get a better photo I will update my post.

FM139 It's White Outside!!!!

Sorry for the late post (again....). My last assignment for my latest class has been sucking up all my time! However, it is due tomorrow so whether I like it or not I will have to hand it in soon...

This past Friday at the Friday Mashup I got my first opportunity to create a challenge!!

I have seen a lot of Chrsitmas Cards lately and I wanted to switch things up a bit. The challenge for this week is create a project:

1.  Using the theme of Winter (Non-Christmas)
2. Use embossing (Dry or heat)
3. Mash it up and do both

After you stamp and emboss your image, cut two lines through your image and glue your image to the smokey slate cardstock with a little space between all your pieces. Cut another smokey slate peice of cardstock using two framelits from the Window Frames Collection to pop up above your stamped image. This will give you the window look I have created above.

Althought I know I have made a lot of Christmas cards this year I am starting to think I should have made more... I am starting to run out because I brought my cards into my office to sell. It seems there are quite a few last minute people who didn't have time to make or buy cards who have been stopping by my office. I am also a last minute person lately and still have yet to send out my Christmas Cards. Who knows, I still might be making more cards tomorrow night, when I will finally get a chance to take a break!

In order to make sure I keep up with my blogging during the holidays I want to make a promise to you right now. I promise to blog daily, a new card or project, from December 20th until January 5th. If I do not keep my promise I will do a draw from the comments I receive from Dec. 20-Jan 5th and will send at least one lucky person Stampin' Up Product (if they are from Canada), or handmade cards (if they live outside Canada).

Owl Punch Art Birthday Card

I made this card back in October for my sister and her Birthday. She loves Owls and I have been meaning to make a Owl birthday card for her for a long time. She absolutely loved the card and was super happy with it. I am pleased with how it turned out.

I did case the card from a few cards I seen on Pinterest. There was no name to the original creator. If you know who created the card I cased from please let me know so I can give them credit.

Tomorrow I will share with you the cheat sheet for how I created the card.

I hope you have a great day!

FM138 Just a Little Something for a Very Special Someone!

This week at the Friday Mashup Tara did a fantastic sketch. The second part to the challenge was to use Window/Transparency Sheets. Unfortunatly I didn't have any so I had to just follow along with the sketch. Using the Chalk Talk Stampset and Framelits made this sketch come to life quickly and easily.

In Calgary we have been going through a cold spell and on Friday it got down to -38°C with the windchill. Brrrrr. I hope you are all staying warm during the winter.

Thank You CASE

I've been tossing up the idea of sharing this card with you for a while. I didn't think I was going to share it because I found out it is an exact case of a card Mary Fish created. I don't like to create exact "cases" of cards but this layout was perfect! It was super simple to create and I believe it is a wow card. Even if I didn't create the original for this card I decided it was still worth sharing.

It is super crazy here in Calgary right now. We are getting a ton of snow and the wind is blowing like crazy. Just after I finished shovelling the snow I needed to shovel it again!

I hope you all are staying safe and warm!!!
