FM188 Winter Themed Gold/Silver Project

This week at the Friday Mashup I created a fun Box Chain Wreath! However I felt like I was cheating because the "Gold" on my Wreath was so minimal. So I set out do create a card with silver or gold but then struggled to incorporate any so all I had was silver rhinestones. With two "failed" attempts at mashing up the challenge I gave in and have decided to share both with you.

Here's this week's Friday Mashup Challenge:

1. Create a project using "Silver or Gold".
2. Create a "Christmas Project".

3. or Mash it Up! and create a "Christmas-themed Project with Silver or Gold".

I took the idea for my reindeer from Pinterest. You can find the pin I used here.
Thank you Jacquii McLeay for the inspiration!

Do you recognize the "Joy" on my wreath? You are right, it's from the Wonderous Wreath Framelit set, but it has been blown up!! My wreath is 12" in diameter so there is no way the small joy from the framelits would fit. In came my Silhouette Cameo to the rescue!

I took a photo of the Joy cut out, imported the photo into my Silhouette Cameo Designer Software, resized it to fit my banner and cut it out three times. I layered Early Espresso, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler joy's on top of each other to add some dimension.

The tutorial I followed for my wreath can be found on my pinterest board: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/30258628716508924/

FM187 Weather Inspired with Metal Embellishment

I'm super exicted to be hosting this weeks Friday Mashup challenge.

With winter in full swing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada I have been thinking a lot about weather. So this week let the weather you are currently experiencing or would like to be having inspire you to create your project. If your up for mashing up the challenge you can add in a metal embellishment.

Here's your challenge this week at The Friday Mashup:

1. Create a project using "a Metal Embellishment (Staple, Brad, Grommet etc.)".
2. Create a project using "Weather as your Inspiration" think Storms, Winter, Clouds, Rain, Sun, Warm Sandy Beaches.

3. or Mash it Up! and create a "Weather inspired project with a Metal Embellishment".

I'm really sad with how my photographs turned out because in person my banner is STUNNING!
There is lots of sparkle. I spritzed everything with smootch spritz giving everything extra sparkle. Theres added texture to the banner by using my Marker Spritzer with Lost Lagoon marker.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the banner and lettering. I love my cameo because it works with MDS SVG files. This means I pulled over my banner punch into the Silhouette Software to cut out the banners.

Stampset: Project Life - Holiday Cheer
Paper: Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Smokey Slate, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Smokey Slate
Punches: Snowflake (Retired), 1-1/4 Scalloped Circle
Bigshot: Circle Framelits, Festive Flurry Framelits
Tools: Silhouette Cameo (for banners & letters)
Accessories: Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Frosted Sequins, Silver Gromlets, Smootch Spriz

FM186 Sketch & Something Unexpected

I wish I had something to share with you this week but I have been sick for over 2 weeks now and haven't been able to get up into the craft room. However, I still wanted to make sure you know about the fantastic challenge over at the Friday Mashup this week. We have a great sketch for you!

Here's your challenge this week at The Friday Mashup:

1. Create a project using the "Sketch".
2. Create a project using a "surprise element, something you wouldn't expect to see on a card/or an unexpected embellishment".
3. or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the Sketch and a unexpected Embellishment".

FM185 Color Combo with Sparkle

We have another fantastic set of challenges over at The Friday Mashup this week. Sadly I could only participate in one of the challenges because I don't have Iridescent Ice embossing powders. I tried it with the hologram embossing powder but it didn't look good at all!!!

1. Create a project using the "Diamond Dust Technique" Tutorial Here
2. Create a project using the colors "Island Indigo, Garden Green & Rich Razzleberry (or similar colors if you don't have these exact colors).

3. or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the colors above and the Diamond Dust Technique".

I had a whole bunch of squares left over from another project I created and I am not good at throwing scraps out. A while ago I cut circles out of the centre but still was unwilling to throw out the squares. I noticed them sitting on my desk and they were all fanned out as shown on my card. It was the starting off point for the inspiration for my card. It took a while to glue all the layers together perfectly but I love the dimension on the card. Too bad it doesn't show as well in the photos.

Stampset: Something for Baby
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Island Indigo, Garden Green, Rich Razzleberry
Punches: Banner Punch
Bigshot: Baby's First Framelits, Circle Framlits, On Film Framlits
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones

FM184 Thankful Box

The challenge this week at the Friday Mashup goes perfectly with last week challenge.

I decided to create a box to hold my card from last week. This box is super easy to make and only uses 1 sheet of 8-1/2 X 11 card stock! That means it's also cheap to make!!!

Lyssa Griffin has a super easy tutorial to follow on her blog, click here to go to her blog.

Here's your challenge this week at The Friday Mashup!

1. Create a "Box Project".
2. Create a project with a "Thanksgiving or Thankful Theme".

3. or Mash it Up! and create a "Thanksgiving- or Thankful-Themed Box".
