FM157 Free Standing Pop-Up Card

Today's Friday Mashup Challenge is right up my alley! I love making funky fold cards and it was about time I made another. This is my first time making this style of Funky fold but it was easy and I love it! I love how it opens up and is so much fancier than it originally looks. The card also stands up on it's own because of the flaps that open up.

Here's this weeks challenge:

1. Create a project with Polka Dots
2. Create a project with a fun fold
3. Mash it up and create a fun fold project with polka dots.

Stampset: Life in the Forest, Just Sayin', See Ya Later

FM156 Sketch and Ombre Technique

Over at The Friday Mashup this week Lynda has a fantastic sketch for us. She is also challenging us to use the Ombre Background Technique.

I found her sketch super versatile and the technique very fun.

I hope you will join us with this challenge.

1. Create a project using the Sketch
2. Create a project using the Ombre Background Technique
3. Create a project using the Sketch and the Ombre Background Technique

The Ombre is subtle on my card but I colored the Polaroid using the Ombre Technique. I tried a few times doing the technique exactly like Lynn described but I was getting white spots on my water color paper and the color wasn't as dark as I wanted it to be. So, I used my markers and colored the paper, then used my aqua painter to wet the marker ink and blended it together.

Stampset: Hardwood, Giggle Greetings
Paper: Water Color Paper, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Staz on
Markers: Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Suede, Early Espresso
Bigshot: On Film Framelits
Tools: Blender Pen, Aqua Painter, Paper Snips,
Accessories: Gold Bakers Twine, Very Vintage Designer Buttons

Despicable Me Minion

After having a Despicable Me movie marathon I was inspired to create this card.

I don't know what it is about the minions but I love them!!!

I have seen many different cards on Pinterest using the circle framelits to create a face of a cartoon character so I thought I would give it a try with the Minions.

Also, what a better time to create this card than when Friday Mashup has a challenge to create a shaped card!

I hope you love this card as much as I do!

Happy Superman Birthday

A few weeks ago we celebrated our nephews first Birthday. We had a fantastic time visiting with family and watching the children run around.

For all the birthdays I attend I try to make a card that goes along with the theme. The theme of the party this time was Spider-man. Making the Spider-man card couldn't have been easier because I used my new Silhouette Cameo.

I found a picture using Google search and imported it into the Designer Edition Silhouette Studio. From there I made it the size I needed, cut out the design in Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White.

On my way to the party I looked at the event invite for the address. I was completely shocked to find out the theme of the party was Super-Man not Spider-Man. Unfortunately we were already halfway to the party so Spider-Man card it was. I guess my memory is not as good and I thought it was. However, my story and card did make for a good laugh.

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red, Pacific Point
Bigshot: Top Note Die (used inside the card)
Tools: Silhouette Cameo, Silhouette Designer Edition Software

FM154 Scattered Embossing

I am loving the challenge over at The Friday Mashup this week. We have a new technique for you to try, at least it is new to me.

Head on over to The Friday Mashup and play along with us.

This weeks challenge:

1. Create a project using the "Scattered Embossing Technique"
2. Create a project with "Spring colors or theme"
3. Mash it up and create a project with the Scattered Embossing Technique and with spring colors or theme.

Here's what I came up with...

I used velum for my embossing, just like they showed you in the video. Of course you don't have to use velum you can use any card stock you like. I just really liked the frosted look you get when you emboss the velum.

To get the cutout inside my square I used the "film negative" frame let in the "On Film Framelit" set. I just ran it through my big shot, turned it 90degrees and ran it through again.

Stampset: Another Thank You Photopolymer
Paper: Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Pool Party, Smokey Slate, Calypso Coral, Velum
Ink: Calypso Coral
Punches: Bitty Butterfly, Elegant Butterfly
Bigshot: Decorative Dots Embossing Folder
Tools: Scoring Tool
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, Candy Dots, Candy Dots Brad Bases, Silver 1/8" Ribbon

Second Card for FM153

Here is another card I made for Friday Mashup. I created this card first but I felt like I was cheating a little by using the water-colour stamp set to create the water-colour background instead of actually watercoloring. I have to admit I also cheated by letting my sister colour in the flower for me. After many failed attempts I asked her color it in for me. Coloring in with the Aqua Painter just isn't my thing.

If you haven't already, I hope you pop over to the Friday Mashup and play along with us.

Here's this weeks challenge:
1. Create a project using Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi and Perfect Plum
2. Create a project using an Aqua Painter or a Blender Pen to create a water-colour effect
3. Create a project using the colors above and create a water-colour effect

This card was cased from CAKath on SplitCoastStampers

Stampset: Happy Watercolor
Paper: Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper, Gold Foil
Ink: Staz On, Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum, Daffodil Delight
Punches: Corner Rounder
Tools: Aqua painter
Accessories: Gold Bakers Twine, Gold Sequin Trim
